Retaining Walls
Retaining Walls & Seat Walls
Segmental block retaining walls, terraces, seat walls and steps built with drainage stone, geogrid and a base that holds the grade.
How we build it
Retaining Walls done right
A retaining wall is a structure, not decoration. Ours start with an excavated, compacted base course set below grade, then course-by-course block with drainage stone behind the wall, a filter fabric separation, and a drain outlet so water has somewhere to go. Geogrid reinforcement gets added at the intervals the wall height and soil require. Those hidden details are the difference between a wall that stands straight for decades and one that bellies out in three winters.
We use segmental block walls to reclaim sloped yards, level a lawn for play space, terrace a hillside into planting beds, hold back grade behind a patio, and build seat walls and steps that turn a hardscape into a usable room. Caps are glued, corners are cut clean, and exposed ends are finished rather than left raw.
If a wall on your property is leaning, cracking or losing block, we will inspect it and tell you plainly whether it needs a rebuild or whether drainage repair will hold. Tall walls or walls carrying a driveway or structure load may need an engineered design, and we will say so before quoting rather than after.

Common questions
Retaining Walls FAQ
- How tall can a block wall be?
- Low walls are straightforward. Taller walls, or walls holding a driveway or structure, may require an engineered design, which we will flag up front.
- Why do walls fail?
- Almost always water and base. No drainage stone, no outlet, or an uncompacted base.
- Can a wall double as seating?
- Yes. Capped seat walls at a comfortable sitting height are one of the best add-ons to a patio.

"Brandon and his crew installed a new deck and fence at our house - a long overdue project! We are thrilled with both. His team is professional, friendly, and they work extremely hard. The bid was right in the ballpark of what we expected, the work was completed in a timely manner, and they were very good about cleaning up the work site when the jobs were finished. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone seeking deck, fencing, and rail services."
"We recently had a vinyl fence and patio installed, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The crew was professional, hardworking, and paid attention to every detail. The fence looks amazing, feels solid, and completely transformed the look of our yard. The patio turned out even better than we imagined — clean, level, and beautifully finished."
"Brandon is fantastic. He did all the leg work and kept us updated prior to and during our project. Brandon got the ball rolling with his crew and got our fence installed as anticipated. We're extremely happy with the turnout, the quality and craftsmanship Brandon and his crew provided. We highly recommend D2K and our pups do too!!"
