How the numbers work
How is the cost of a fence calculated?
Fence pricing comes down to how much fence you need and what it is made of. The calculator measures your drawn fence line in linear feet, prices the panels, posts and hardware for the material and height you picked, adds each gate you place, and adds the labor to install that run. You see one estimate for the whole project rather than a per-foot number you have to do math on.
What moves the price the most
- Linear feet: The single biggest factor. Enclosing a full back yard costs more than closing one open side, so the calculator lets you draw only the runs you actually want fenced.
- Material: Chain link, vinyl privacy and ornamental aluminum sit at different price points. You can price the same layout in each one and compare.
- Height and style: A 6' privacy panel uses more material than a 4' picket or a 4' ornamental section, and gates scale with height too.
- Gates: Every gate adds a frame, posts and hardware. Walk gates and double-drive gates are priced differently, so place the ones you really need.
- Installation method: Vinyl and chain link install with our no-dig system; ornamental aluminum posts are dug and set in concrete. The method follows the material you choose.
- Site conditions: Slope, rock, tree roots, tight access and existing fence removal are checked on site, which is why the instant number is an estimate and the measured visit is the firm one.
One thing we do not do: hide the number behind a form. The estimator prices your layout on screen. If you want it in writing, save the design and we will follow up with a written estimate for the exact fence you drew.
Step by step
How do I use the fence estimator?
Type your address, draw the fence on the aerial view of your yard, pick the material and height, drop your gates, and read the estimate. Most people finish in under ten minutes, and you can change a material or a height and watch the number move.
What you'll do
- 1. Enter your address: We pull satellite imagery of your property so you are drawing on your real yard, not a blank grid.
- 2. Draw the fence line: Click the corners of the run. Each side shows its length as you go, and you can type an exact length for any side you have already measured.
- 3. Choose material, style and height: Vinyl, ornamental aluminum or chain link, in the styles and colors we actually install.
- 4. Place your gates: Add walk gates and double-drive gates where you need access for mowers, trailers and trash cans.
- 5. Read your estimate: Your fence estimate appears with the footage and gates it is based on. Save it and we will pick it up from there.
Already measured your yard? You can skip the drawing and type exact side lengths. Not sure where the property line runs? Draw your best guess — we verify boundaries and mark utilities before anything goes in the ground.
Straight answers
Is an online fence estimate accurate?
It is accurate for planning and budgeting: it uses the same materials, gates and labor we build with, priced against your real footage. What it cannot see is your grade, your soil, buried utilities, an old fence that has to come out, or the permit your township may require. Those get confirmed at the on-site visit, and the written estimate that follows is the number we stand behind.
Online pricing is a preliminary estimate only and is not a final proposal or contract. Final pricing is subject to field verification, final measurements, site conditions, permits, HOA requirements, material availability and final scope of work.
