How we install vinyl privacy fence
Every vinyl privacy job starts with layout. We locate the property line against your survey or pins, mark the run, call in utility locates, and set the corner and gate posts first so the line pulls straight before a single panel goes up. Posts are set in concrete at the depth Central Pennsylvania frost demands, and every gate post is internally reinforced with steel or an aluminum insert so the opening does not lean over time.
The panels themselves matter as much as the labor. We install heavy-wall tongue-and-groove privacy panels with routed rails, reinforced bottom rails and interlocking boards, which is what keeps a 6' or 8' panel from bowing between posts after a hot summer or a windy winter. Cheap builder-grade vinyl is thinner in the wall, and you can see it in the wave along a fence line two seasons later.
Grade is the other thing that separates a clean install from a rough one. Solid privacy panels do not rack, so on sloped or rolling yards we step panels along the grade and plan each transition during the estimate. Where a gap under the fence would matter — dogs, small kids, a pool enclosure — we can lower a run, add a taller panel, or fill with landscape stone so the line stays tight to the ground.
Gates are built to the opening rather than forced to a stock size. Walk gates, double gates and drive gates up to 16' get frames sized to the span, hardware rated for the weight, and self-closing, self-latching hardware wherever pool code applies. Before we leave, every gate gets adjusted, every cap gets seated, and the yard gets cleaned up.

Linear footage
The single biggest driver. Longer runs spread mobilization and setup across more feet, which is why very small jobs carry a minimum.
Height & color
6' is the standard privacy height; 7' and 8' panels cost more per foot. White is the value color, with tan, grey and adobe priced above it.
Toppers & style
Picket and lattice toppers add material cost over a solid flat-top panel.
Gates & openings
Every gate is priced separately from the fence line — walk gates, double gates, drive gates and automatic operators all differ.
Terrain & access
Rock, heavy slope, tight back-yard access and hand-digging around utilities add labor that a per-foot number alone cannot capture.
