Overview

Why aluminum ornamental works

Powder-coated ornamental aluminum is the premium choice around pools, along property lines and anywhere a view matters. Racking sections follow grade changes without stair-stepping, and pool-code configurations meet BOCA / PA pool barrier requirements with self-closing, self-latching gate hardware.

  • Will not rust — powder-coated aluminum, not steel
  • Pool-code configurations available
  • Racks to follow sloped and rolling yards
  • Open picket design preserves the view
  • Montego and Washington styles, single or double picket

Maintenance

Essentially none. Rinse off dust and pollen as needed.

In depth

How we install ornamental aluminum fence

Ornamental aluminum is the product we recommend most often when a homeowner wants a fence that secures the yard without closing off the view. The sections are powder-coated aluminum — not painted steel — so there is nothing to rust at the welds or along the bottom rail, even where a mower throws grass and water against it every week. That single material difference is why aluminum outlasts the old wrought iron look it replaces.

Installation starts with the posts. We set every post in concrete below frost depth, plumb and on line, with the gate posts sized and reinforced for the swing weight. Because aluminum sections rack, we can follow a rolling or sloped yard smoothly instead of stair-stepping panels, which keeps the top rail flowing with the ground and eliminates the triangular gaps you see under stepped fence on a hill.

Style and picket configuration determine how the finished fence reads. Montego and Washington profiles in single or double picket, flat or spear tops, and 4', 5' and 6' heights in black, white and bronze cover almost every request. Pool-code configurations use tighter picket spacing and specific rail placement to meet Pennsylvania pool barrier requirements, paired with self-closing, self-latching gate hardware that latches on the pool side.

Gates are fabricated to the opening. Walk gates get self-closing hinges where required, double gates get drop rods and rated hinge hardware, and drive gates up to 16' can be fitted with automatic swing or slide operators, keypads, remotes, safety loops and battery backup. We run the low-voltage work and set the safety reversing devices ourselves.

Cost

What drives aluminum ornamental fence cost

Every quote is built from the same factors. Here is what moves the number up or down on a real property, so nothing on your proposal comes as a surprise.

Linear footage

Aluminum installs start around $32 per foot in our area; longer runs spread setup cost across more feet.

Height & style

4', 5' and 6' heights, with double-picket and pool-code configurations costing more per section than single picket.

Color

Black is the standard and the value choice; white and bronze are priced above it.

Gates & automation

Walk, double and drive gates are priced per opening, and automatic operators are a separate scope with electrical work.

Grade & rock

Racking sections handle slope well, but rock, hand-digging and tight access still add labor.

Pool code

Pool enclosures require specific picket spacing and hardware, which affects both material and permit scope.

Local context

Aluminum Ornamental fence in South-Central PA

Aluminum is our most-requested pool fence across Adams and York counties, because Pennsylvania pool barrier rules require a specific enclosure height, picket spacing and self-latching gate hardware, and aluminum meets all of it without blocking the view of the water from the house. We handle the pool-code configuration and the township permit together so the enclosure passes inspection the first time.

It is also the right answer for the rolling terrain around Hanover, New Oxford, Littlestown and the York County ridges. Racking sections follow grade, so a fence on a slope keeps a clean top line instead of the stepped profile a solid panel forces. On properties where a view of open farmland is the whole reason someone bought the lot, black aluminum visually disappears at a distance in a way no privacy fence can.

FAQ

Aluminum Ornamental fence questions

How much does aluminum fence installation cost?
Aluminum ornamental installs start around $32 per foot in our service area, before gates, pool-code configurations, tear-out and difficult access. Draw your yard in our online designer for a starting estimate, and we confirm the final number on site.
Is aluminum fence strong enough for dogs?
Yes for most dogs, and it is a common dog-yard choice. What matters is picket spacing for small breeds and adding a bottom detail for diggers — we size the configuration to the animal rather than assuming.
Does aluminum fence rust?
No. It is aluminum with a powder-coated finish, so there is no steel to corrode. That is the core advantage over the wrought iron and welded steel it replaces, and it carries a limited lifetime material warranty.
Will aluminum fence meet PA pool code?
Our pool-code configurations are built for Pennsylvania pool barrier requirements, including height, picket spacing, rail placement and self-closing, self-latching gate hardware. We pull the permit and build to what your inspector enforces.
Can aluminum fence follow a hill?
Yes — this is aluminum's biggest practical advantage. Sections rack to follow the grade, so the fence flows with the ground instead of stair-stepping and leaving gaps underneath.
What heights and colors do you install?
4', 5' and 6' heights in black, white and bronze, in Montego and Washington styles with single or double picket options.
How long does an aluminum fence install take?
Most residential aluminum jobs are one to two days on site once material arrives, generally four to six weeks out from a signed agreement.
Can you add an automatic gate later?
Yes. If you tell us at install we will set the gate posts and run conduit for a future operator, which makes the automation add-on far less invasive later.

"Brandon and his crew installed a new deck and fence at our house - a long overdue project! We are thrilled with both. His team is professional, friendly, and they work extremely hard. The bid was right in the ballpark of what we expected, the work was completed in a timely manner, and they were very good about cleaning up the work site when the jobs were finished. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone seeking deck, fencing, and rail services."

The fence looks amazing, feels solid, and completely transformed the look of our yard. The patio turned out even better than we imagined — clean, level, and beautifully finished."

"Brandon is fantastic. He did all the leg work and kept us updated prior to and during our project. Brandon got the ball rolling with his crew and got our fence installed as anticipated. We're extremely happy with the turnout, the quality and craftsmanship Brandon and his crew provided. We highly recommend D2K and our pups do too!!"
